The Journey of Rabbi Yo

I’m Rabbi Yohanna Kinberg, though most people call me Rabbi Yo. For more than twenty years, I have had the privilege of accompanying people through the moments that shape a life: weddings and commitments, baby namings, b’nai mitzvah, conversion and Jewish exploration, illness, loss, funerals, and the many transitions that do not always fit neatly into a category.

I believe the most meaningful Jewish rituals are rooted in story. They should feel beautiful, personal, emotionally honest, and unmistakably connected to the people at their center. I do not begin with a template. I begin by listening: to who you are, who you love, where you come from, what matters to you, and what you hope this moment will hold.

I especially love working with people whose Jewish lives do not fit neatly into a box: interfaith and multicultural families, LGBTQ+ couples and families, people returning to Judaism, people discovering it for the first time, and anyone seeking a meaningful Jewish way to mark an important moment. You do not need to know all the right words or have everything figured out before you call a rabbi. We begin with your story, and we create something together.
